Jess Charlap
Co-Founder
Jess is driven to build bridges between subject matter experts and the general public. From engineering education to climatetech entrepreneurs, she facilitates connections between impact-centered organizations and their customers and partners. Jess is an innovation catalyst who helps clients translate their dreams into strategies and tactics.

Making connections for greater impact
Jess is a business developer, community builder, and program manager with over 20 years of experience advising higher education, design, startup, and institutional clients. She has been recognized for cultivating partnerships, developing program strategy, and growing practice areas. Jess combines marketing expertise, cross-discipline subject matter expertise, and a proven record of team building across departments and organizations. In 2022 she was the recipient of the Lead Mentor of the Year Award for Cleantech Open Northeast.
Jess’ core competencies are project and program management, partner communication and coordination, Go-To-Market strategy and implementation, and business development. Over her career she has developed domain expertise in building sector marketing strategy, academic and community program development, and entrepreneurship.
Prior to founding Practice Ecology Jess worked as the Program Manager for External Programs and Partnership at Olin College of Engineering, where she cultivated the largest academic partnership in Olin’s history. She also developed and executed externally facing programs such as the Olin’s annual faculty development and curricular innovation program. Jess represented Olin with the local tech community, including Greentown Labs, Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, MassRobotics, and the Northeast Microelectronics Coalition.
